Hello Fabulous Philanthropists!
I hope that you've enjoyed the site or have at least been mildly amused by just how many jello shot recipes there really are. Maybe I've encouraged your culinary creativity or cured another case of party panic - a diva can only dream!
You've probably also noticed that the site is sponsored by advertising like so many sites are these days. This helps to cover my costs as well as puts a little 401 back in my 401k. Truth be told, I would love to grow the site so that I could quit my day job and just write about jello and jello shots all day -
who wouldn't!
But on a more serious note, I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to build a web business (with great readers like you) and I want to pass that opportunity onto other women who probably need it more than I do. That's why 10% of the income from this site will be will be reinvested as micro-loans through Kiva to other women around the world who are brave enough to start their own businesses.
Kiva is a helping hand, not a hand out. Instead of gifts or grants, men and women from around the world take out loans to start or grow businesses that provide for their families and grow the economy of their local communities. When the loans are paid back, that money is then available to invest in other micro-loans.
I feel strongly about giving back both personally and professionally and I'm a huge fan of recycling, which is why Kiva is perfect for me - I get to contribute to a cause that makes me smile as well as recycle that contribution once the loan is paid back.
